The arrival of a new baby is an exciting time for both the parents and the family. There are many things that need to be done before a baby comes. A baby takes a long time to create and that time will be needed to prepare for the arrival. Many things will be bought and deciding on which things are needed right away may take some thought.

A car seat is one of the first items that will be purchased for the new baby. Laws will not let any child leave without a safe car seat and they are sure it is placed in the car correctly. There are lots of car seats available but there is one brand that stands out. A Britax car seat takes its place at the head of the class. They have the highest level for the weight and height limits. All of their car seats also come with a 5-point harness keeping the child safely strapped in.

As with every human, a baby will also have to take a bath. A baby’s neck not hold their head up right away so a baby bath will help out with support for the head. The tub is slanted to keep the head away from the water. A tub can also come with baby bath toys to entertain the baby while taking a bath.

One decision that will need to be made is how the baby will be fed. There is breast feeding and there is bottle feeding. With breast feeding, most mothers will need to pump to relieve some pressure. A good name in breast pumps is the Isis breast pump. With bottle feeding, there will be the choice on which type of bottle to use. Glass bottles and plastic bottles are available. Bottles will also come in different sizes to be used at different stages of life.

For bottle feeding, there are numerous different bottles that are available. There are bottles made from glass and some from plastic. There are bottles that have angles in the neck. This is supposed to help with air bubbles. There are bottles that have drop in liners. Each baby will have their preference in what type of bottle they will take. The hard part is figuring that out.

Clothing is something that every new baby will need. They grow very fast and will need clothing for each new season. Clothing will also be the number one item that is gifted for a new baby.

The arrival of a new baby is an exciting time. There are many items that need to be bought and these items will take some time to get. Plan accordingly and you will be ready for a new baby.

What Are The Benefits Of Breast Feeding?

July 2nd, 2009

Of course you want to give your baby the best start in life and breast feeding is the single most important thing you can do to protect your baby and help to promote his good health. Another of the many benefits of breast feeding is that it costs absolutely nothing!

While breast feeding can save you a lot of money on buying formula, it can also help with your medical bills. Statistics show that breast fed babies get sick less often than formula fed babies. When they do succumb to illness they usually have a milder form and recover much quicker. Bottle fed babies suffer more often with respitory infections, ear infections and other medical problems.

If there is a history of allergies in your family, breast feeding is even more important. Breast milk contains antibodies which are transferred to her baby during feeding. These antibodies protect her baby from allergies, food sensitivities and other illnesses until her baby’s immune system is mature enough to make his own antibodies.

Sucking on the breast will also help with the development or jaw alignment and the development of the cheekbone.  For this very reason, there is less of a need for costly orthodontic work when the child gets older.

Unlike formula, breast milk is always ready, always available, convenient, and always the right temperature for feeding.  Plus, it contains all of the vitamins and minerals your growing baby needs, saving you a lot of money.

Breast feeding also offers many benefits for the mom as well.  The baby sucking at the breast will cause contractions right after birth, leading to less bleeding for the mom, and helping her uterus to it’s shape before pregnancy much faster. Breast feeding will also burn calories, so a mom can lose weight much faster than if she fed her baby with a bottle.  Breast feeding will also create a special bond with the mother and the baby – which is one thing formula simpy cannot do.

If you’re a mom who’s unable to breast feed for one reason or another, this article is not intended to make you feel bad in any way. Bottle feeding is still a good option and there have been some considerable improvements to the formulas available today with added nutrients such as probiotics and omega 3.
