Baby crib bedding

There are numerous websites selling baby nursery bedding, it makes it difficult to choose from the wide variety available. Besides color and design where everyone is looking out for, I think that we should think of other areas before selecting a baby bedding for your little one.

Most parents consider price as when shipping for a baby bedding. Needless to say, price is an important consideration. It is not really worthy to buy nursery bedding sets that are too pricey, after all, your child would not be using it for long.

However, parents must evaluate on the benefits that higher prices may bring.

Many mid-range baby nursery bedding are made with good quality materials at lower prices. Their designs are still as trendy, allowing parents to choose one that would suit the decoration of the room or simply one that looks pretty to them.

However, one significant factor that most parents forget is the material. The material used to make the bedding is especially important for babies due to the soft and sensitive skin. babies skin gets irritated easily, causing skin complications such as rash and bringing more unwanted problems such as sleepless nights for both the child and the parents. Bedtime can be a very terrible time of the day to look forward to.

Hence, the material of the bedding is extremely important. Cotton would be the best material for your baby bedding. It is soft and comfortable, ensuring that it would not irritate the sensitive baby skin. Try to select products that are 100% cotton, this would make sure that the bedding would be comfortable for the baby to sleep without causing any skin conditions.

Some baby bedding includes wool into the material. Its inclusion usually makes the material a little scratchy, making your little one feel uncomfortable. For parents, they would not feel or have known about it. But things become different when it comes to babies, their sensitive skin is unable to withstand the scratchy feeling the wool causes.

In addition, when it is 100% cotton, it is unlikely that it will run out of shape or shrink due to the different expansion and contraction of the different materials being used to make a single bedding. In other words, the baby nursery bedding would be able to last longer and be in better condition till your baby is ready to move on to toddler beds!

Does your baby sleep safely?

October 31st, 2009

Babies spend most of their time sleeping. They can sleep for more than 16 hours in a day, spending up to 3 to 4 hours sleeping during each rest period. Therefore considering the huge amount of time infants sleep, it is important to find out some safety issues regarding baby’s sleep.

First and foremost, co-sleeping is not safe. Especially adults who are heavy sleepers, they might accidently crush or suffocate the baby. In addition, babies usually co-sleep together on their parents’ bed, there are heavy quilts and blankets that might accidently cover their face and cause the babies to suffocate too.

Looking at all these dangers of co-sleeping, try to let your child sleep in a baby nursery bedding. Sleeping in a crib will have no dangers of parents turning onto their babies. Besides, there won’t be any heavy quilts and blankets that may cause accidents of choking while sleeping. Therefore, parents are encouraged to get a baby nursery bedding for your little one to sleep in as it is safer than co-sleeping with the baby’s parents.

The use of blankets, too has also been discouraged by many as they are afraid that the blanket may carelessly cover the baby’s head, however some parents are afraid that their baby may catch a cold at night. Actually, there is a safe way of using a blanket during the baby’s rest. Just make sure that when your baby is in the crib, his feet touches the end of the crib and the blanket should not be covered any higher than his chest. In this way, it will not be easy for your baby to be covered by the blanket and there will be less risk of him sleeping at night with the blanket.

Letting your baby to sleep on her back is one safe way of sleeping too. Infants sleeping on their front may have risks of choking when your baby faces down on the mattress. Babies are too feeble to roll around or shift themselves out of a dangerous position. Therefore letting your child sleep on her back in the baby nursery bedding will be the safest option.

Some infants sleep better on their front because their heart is close to something which makes them feel safe and at ease. However, it is still not advisable to let your baby sleep on her front untill, possibly when she has the strength to be able to toss and turn around in bed by herself.

When your baby goes to bed, try to dress your baby in light sleep clothing to avoid your baby from “overheating”. The nursery room should be kept at room temperature so that your baby will feel neither too cold nor warm. In the event.

Look closely at all these factors and assess your baby’s sleeping area cautiously. Let your baby sleep safely and comfortably and you will be able to sleep well throughout the night too!

Baby nursery bedding: Some considerable areas to note when selecting a baby mattress

October 30th, 2009

When shopping for a baby nursery bedding, many parents do not put too much thoughts into the choosing of mattresses for babies. But there are important points where parents should take note of to make sure the safety and comfort of your precious one.

Most parents commonly buy mattresses off the rack without thinking much. Many mums and dads look out for different things such as price, comfort and size. However, what is cheap may lack some safety features that may harm your child and what is may seem cozy and comfortable for adults may not be seen as the same way your your baby.

The first and foremost criteria that one should consider, size. When one chooses the size, parents must make sure that the size fits the crib or baby nursery bedding that you already own. Most mattresses have standardized the size these days so that should not be a problem, but as the safety of the child is involved, it is better to make sure that the size fits rather than simply assuming.

When there is too big a gap, your baby’s hand might be trap in the gap, and not knowing better, they may hurt themselves as they toss and turn around or result in their feet getting trap when they start to walk.

Parents can make sure that there is no more than one finger spacing between the crib and the mattress. This would make sure that there is no extra space that might accidently injure your precious child.

After considering size, we come to comfort next. For parents, a soft and comfortable mattress may nice for a good night’s rest but for babies and toddler, the mattress should not be too soft. This is essentially important for newborns. Newborns are unable to toss and turn around, and by having a firm mattress, it allows the baby to turn over easily as compared to a soft mattress. This is crucial, if your baby has her face down and if the mattress is too soft, resulting in difficulty in turning over, it may actually end up in serious consequences.

Parents can make sure that the mattress is hard enough by pressing their palm down against the mattress. The greater the resistance the less depression, the safer it would be for the baby. Well, the mattress cannot be too hard or it would be too uncomfortable for your little one.

Lastly, the price. Many parents find it difficult to decide which material should be the appropriate one. Do not worry, be it foam or coil, it is equally well if it fits the criteria above.

So choose wisely when selecting the baby nursery bedding for your hild and it will give your precious baby a good rest through the night!!

Baby: A safe sleep

June 29th, 2009

Throughout the whole day, newborns spend most of their time sleeping. They can sleep for more than 16 hours in a day, spending up to 3 to 4 hours sleeping during each rest period. Hence considering the huge amount of time infants sleep, it is essential to identify the safety issues when babies go to bed.

First and foremost, co-sleeping can be very dangerous. For parents who are heavy sleepers, they might inadvertently crush or suffocate the baby. In addition, babies usually co-sleep together on their parents’ bed, there are heavy quilts and blankets that may accidently be placed over their face and cause babies to suffocate too.

Looking at all these dangers of co-sleeping, try to let your child sleep in a baby nursery bedding. Sleeping in a baby bedding will have no risks of parents accidently turning onto their babies. Furthermore, usually in cribs, there shouldn’t be any adult’s heavy quilts and blankets that may cause the baby to choke while sleeping. Therefore, parents are encouraged to get a baby nursery bedding for your little one to sleep in as it is safer than co-sleeping with the baby’s parents.

The use of blankets has also been discouraged by many as they fear that the blanket may carelessly cover the baby’s head, however some parents are worried that their baby may catch a cold at night. In fact, there is a safe way of using a blanket that can avoid such incidents from happening during the baby’s rest. Just make sure that when your baby is in the crib, both feet should be touching the end of the crib and the blanket shouldn’t be higher than his chest. In this way, your baby will not be covered by the blanket so easily and it will be safer for your baby when he sleeps at night.

Letting your baby to sleep on her back is one safe way of sleeping too. Babies sleeping on their front may expose themselves to possibilities of choking when your baby faces down on the mattress. Infants are too feeble to turn over or shift themselves out of a dangerous position. Therefore letting your child sleep on her back in the baby nursery bedding will be the safest option.

Some babies sleep better on their front because their heart feels close to something which makes them feel safe and at ease while sleeping. However, it is still not recommended to let your child sleep on her tummy until, maybe when she has the ability to be able to roll over in bed by herself.

When your baby goes to bed, try to let your baby wear light sleep clothing to prevent your baby from “overheating”,. The nursery room should be kept at a comfortable temperature and in such manner your baby will feel neither too cold nor warm. In the event.

Look closely at all these points and assess your baby’s sleeping area carefully. Let your precious one sleep safely and pleasantly and you will be able to sleep well without worries too!

A safe baby nursery bedding

June 22nd, 2009
Comments Off

Reports have shown that there are more than 6000 babies die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) each year and out of these cases, more than 900 cases are due to babies sleeping on soft baby nursery bedding. Therefore, is your nursery bedding safe?

Soft baby nursery bedding can cause an infant to suffocate when the baby is being placed on her belly and her head sinks into the soft mattress. Soft mattresses may be nice for babies to sleep in, however they might be dangerous too.As infants are too weak, when their heads are being laid onto a soft mattress, they might not have the strength to turn around and recover from such a dangerous position. Disastrous accidents might happen if no one is around to take good care of the little one.

To avoid such accidents, parents can select a baby nursery bedding with a firm mattress that does not get depressed easily when some weight is being applied on it. Parents can simply do a test by pressing one hand onto the bedding to determine it’s strength in withstanding the force applied. The stronger the resistance of the bedding, the safer it is.

Suffocation can also be caused by the bumper pads that are added in the crib. Bumper pads make the baby nursery bedding look cute and pretty, however, suffocation can happen when infants have their face pressed against the soft and fluffy bumper pads and are unable to free themselves.

Infants are feeble and very prone to accidents during this period, and parents should take extra care and precaution. Some people recommend to buy firmer bumper pads while others just remove all of them from the crib. The second method being the better one because, though no often, there are also cases of strangulation by the strings of the bumper pads and suffocation when babies are pressed between the bumper pads and another object.

Researchers also observed that there are toxic gases in beddings which can harm the baby’s health . They discovered that there are chemical compounds containing phosphorous and arsenic which are used as fire retardants, are being added to mattresses which can be very dangerous. Once these chemical compounds interact with certain reactants, they release poisonous gases which may be fatal if a baby breathes in a large amount of it when sleeping in the baby nursery bedding.

Researchers later found that a fungus that commonly germinates in baby bedding might be one of the reactants which can help to release the poisonous gases. Therefore, they urge parents not to reuse old baby nursery bedding which may contain such fungus after being used for a long period of time. Even though babies sleep in cribs for a couple of months or longer only, parents should buy new bedding instead of reusing to avoid the existence of such fungus. Furthermore, a new baby nursery bedding will look prettier than an old reused one.

Looking at all these factors, parents should be able to evaluate if they have a safe baby nursery bedding. Otherwise, go get a new one and select one safe bedding so that not only will your baby be able to sleep safe and sound, but you will also be able to rest at ease throughout the night.
